There are 3 different coat types
*SMOOTH
*LONG
*WIRE

Different Colors
* Solids- Red, Cream
Two- color:
solid color features tan markings above eyes, on muzzel, chest, paws, under tail and under ear flaps.
* Black & Tan
* Chocolate & Tan
* Blue & Tan
* Isabella (Fawn) & Tan
*Wild boar(darker outer coat/lighter undercoat) & Tan
Patterns
* Brindle

Dark or black stripes go over entire body or just on tan markings
Dapple
* Single- Patches of lighter coat color on the darker coat. dog may have blue eyes and a large area of white on chest
**Double -
Includes patches of light and dark coat, as well as patches of white. They can have blue eyes.
Sizes
The American Kennel Club (AKC) recgonizes two sizes of dachshunds.
**Mini 11 pounds or under at 12 months.
**Standard 16and 30 pounds at 12 months
There are also tweenies, not recgonized by AKC as a size.(These are the little ones to big to be minis but not quite a standard)
